4 ways beauty can help you relax

Beauty is a powerful tool. It can boost our confidence and make us feel sexier, but did you know it can also help us relax? If you’ve been feeling a little stressed out lately, you might want to try some of the following beauty tricks.

#1 Wear a calming fragrance

It’s no secret that fragrances can strongly impact on emotions. Research has found that lavender, ylang ylang and sandalwood are calming scents, and vanilla and jasmine are mood-boosters. So next time you're having a stressful day, you might want to spritz a fragrance heavy in those notes.

#2 Treat yourself to all the masks

There is nothing better than treating yourself to a pamper session after a long, tough day. It's a well-deserved break that also happens to be productive! So pop on a face, eye or foot mask, lie on the couch, watch a movie and de-stress.

#3 Have a hot bath or shower

A hot bath or shower can make a world of difference. In fact, a recent study showed that having a long, hot bath is beneficial for your health. Plus, there are plenty of calming bath bombs and shower gels around to make the experience even more relaxing. If you want to take your shower to day spa-level calm though, add a few drops of an essential oil to a washer and place it on the floor where it won't get too wet. As you shower, the hot water and steam will diffuse the scent all around you.

#4 Get serious about sleep

We all know that getting our beauty sleep is important, yet many of us don’t make it a priority. Sleep deprivation can make you more stressed out than you already are. So if you're having trouble falling asleep, or need a little nudge to nod off, try using a pillow mist or sleeping mask.

That's interesting about fragrance. I never knew vanilla and jasmine were mood boosters. Love both of them.

A nice soak in the bath and my skin care routine definitely helps me to destress. Love using perfume as a way to stay calm and mindful.

Ive never been one for laying in the bath. I think once i had children it was no longer a relaxing thing and was more trouble then it was worth so i just gave up. I actually find having a shower works for me as long as no one knocks on the door or wanders in to ask me something :)

I like a bath, but not too hot. Bath bombs are a must!
A good home pedicure is relaxing too.

Well, sleep is not something that if you want more you can get more. Same as time for a bath! I haven't had a long bath for a very long time.

There's nothing like relaxing with a good face mask, dimmed lighting and a candle burning.

I have three oil diffusers in my house: two upstairs and one downstairs. The one in my bedroom is typically on for about two to four hours a day (the latter if I'm working from home). I am incredibly scent-oriented. Upstairs for calm scents, downstairs for fresh, typically citrus scents.
As for masks?! Oh, I have re-discovered my love for them in the last three months. I'll be cleaning the shower and I'll have a mask on my face. Fabulous.

Great ideas to relax and I've tried them all. I love lavender for relaxation but have tried lots of things to get more sleep but have come to the conclusion that I just don't need much.

Having no sleep is so stressful in itself, I know as I suffer a lot and hate taking medication but often its the only way I can get some, but you can get quite good over the counter pills that are not harmful from your local chemist, as log as you don't take them over more than 2 days at a time your fine and you dont wake up feeling drugged. Anything that helps eh?

I usually put on a mask over the weekends since that's the only time I get to relax and sit for a while. It feels so good to have that "me" time!
