Easy to use
I use this brush for both loose powder application and contouring. The longer handled version I use for blush application and I'm sure this one would work just as well, I have noticed that the hair's on this version are silghtly rougher however. The outer hair's seem more frayed and dry than the long handled version, even though I have owned both for the same amount of time. Could it be because I use this short-handled version slightly heavier-handed when contouring?
For loose powder application it picks up a nice thin layer of product and distributes evenly and lightly to give a lovely finish. For contouring the size is probably slightly bigger than I need, so I turn it on it's side and use the thinner side to contour under the cheekbones and around my face. Again, it picks up a nice thin amount of product, and can pick up larger amounts if necessary and blends in the contour powders that I use effortlessly.
I would probably not get this short-handled version again because the hairs look like they aren't going to last as long as the long-handled version. But I love that this is so much easier to tote around for travel and is very multi-purpose.

Handy blush and powder brush
I own 2 of these brushes, one the full size and the other the short handle version which came out for the FAFI collection.
The bristles are a dome-like but tapered shape, it is made from goat hair, and although quite soft, not the softest brush MAC makes.
This is an excellent blush brush and also a decent powder brush. It deposits products with a medium footprint and does a fantastic job at blending.
If you over blend with this brush, I have found that it can feel slightly scratchy, although not as bad as some other brushes.
It's head is slightly larger than the 116 brush and as I have smaller cheekbones, it is more suited for my use than this brush if I want a more defined look when sweeping it across the apples of the cheeks.
It is easy to carry around and also doubles up as a powder brush, and a mineral foundation brush.
This brush is made in Japan (both the full size and the short handle) and has a slight shedding problem. I also find the shorter handle bristles slightly less soft than the full size one but It is very convenient for travel and in the handbag.

Great for carrying around!
I have this in the full length and the shorter length and I will never be without it!
