M.A.C's Viva Glam campaign has donated $10 million to those affected by COVID-19

M.A.C make a damn good lipstick, there's no denying it. But makeup isn't their only forte - in fact, the brand have been running their Viva Glam giving campaign for over 25 years. Launched at the height of the AIDS epidemic, M.A.C Viva Glam was created as a means to support those living with and affected by HIV or AIDS, with 100 per cent of the selling price of any Viva Glam lippie being directed straight toward organisations that could offer it.

Now, ($500 milion later, may we add), the brand are buckling up to support those affected by another pandemic, the current global outbreak of COVID-19. This time, not only will 100 per cent of the proceeds of any VG lipstick sale (get on it, you know you were considering buying one anyway) will go toward supporting those affected by coronavirus, but the brand themselves have also made a whopping $10 million donation (in US dollars, which rounds out to be over $15 million AUD - wow), with funds spead across 250 organisations on the front lines working to serve communities dealing with the fallout of the outbreak.

The organisatons and services involved, you ask? Everything from delivering food supplies to testing and treating diagnosed cases (particularly for those whose immune systems may be compromised due to factors such as age or asthma).

Karen Pearl, President & CEO of God's Love We Deliver (one of the food delivery services to whom M.A.C has donated) shared her gratitude in a statement: "Our clients are at great risk for COVID-19 - the majority are elderly, and all live with underlying conditions that make them especially susceptible to the coronavirus. Last week we were able to cook and deliver 44, 000 medically tailored meals to our clients and their families and caregivers. Our meals are more important than ever to this vulnerable population during this unprecedented crisis. My great thanks goes out to our entire community of volunteers, staff and donors, like M.A.C Viva Glam, for their amazing support during these difficult times."
