Shine and glow are not the same thing

Switched-on-a-light-inside-your-skin brilliance that radiates across a room? Yes, yes please. Shine so bright it could blind anyone who dares stare directly at you? Not unless we're talking about hair.
So how do you get glowing skin while keeping shiny slicks on the down low? It's all about clever care and even more clever cheats.
Healthy skin is radiant skin I know mine never looks so good as after a few minutes under my favourite mask (which happens to be Ella Bache's Masque Soir de Fete, $50, right now). And because dehydration and sallowness go hand-in-shrivelled up-hand, moisture is crucial. Enter the marvels of the modern mattifier. Oily, slick-prone skin doesn't necessarily need less moisture, it just needs to keep surface shine under control. Choose a moisturiser also designed to mop up excess sebum and you're covering both bases in one move (The Body Shop's new Seaweed Matte Day Lotion, $21.95, is great and Pier Auge's Olimus Baume Matifiant, $71.60, soaks up oil while also giving you an antioxidant hit). As for instantly deleting shine, blotting paper is everybody's very best friend.
But back to glow. Even the most pampered complexion has an off day, so sometimes you've just got to fake it. We like ID Bare Escentuals Bare Radiance ($70) for an instant luminosity that you can blot all day without it budging, and a gleam cream like Pout's After Glow Illuminator ($62) is essential. This baby boosts radiance, distracts the eye from imperfections and does it all without looking like you've tried too hard. Genius...

I like the glow without the shine, blotting paper is excellent, especially on warm days. I need to invest in a good illuminator to give my skin a glow.

My skin looks a bit matte too much, need to bring back the shine/glow...lots of hydrating facial oils for me. I used some brightening creams with BHAs and think that is what made my skin dull/matte

My skin is radiant after a mask too, but it only lasts for 1 day. Will look at the Ella Bache mask.

clinique light up illuminator is excellent for "glow"-not too glittery, just enhances your cheekbones etc, gives your skin a healthy fresh look
