Your hair needs Keratin
Do you guys know I have pretty curly hair naturally? No, you probably didn’t – because there’s a reason I don’t grace this gorgeous site with photo evidence of my horridly badly behaved locks. They’re all sorts of crazy - curling and tangling and never sitting right. Washing and straightening was a task all on its own.
That was of course, until I discovered the brand new Keratin treatment available, and I was transported straight (excuse the pun!) to hair heaven almost instantly…
You may remember me blogging about my first Keratin experience a few years ago? Well it’s come leaps and bounds since then, and I took myself off to the gorgeous Brad Ngata salon at Sydney’s Ivy to find out more.
“The formulation is formaldehyde-free and only needs to be left on your hair for around 20 minutes!”, my gorgeous stylist, Taylor, informed me. I was thrilled. 20 minutes seemed light-years away from the days of having to keep my locks dead straight for three straight days!
Taylor applied the formulation to my locks in sections using a paint brush, before blow-drying and then carefully straightening all over to ‘seal in the formula.’ After that my hair felt kind of sticky and smelled of chocolate! Mmm mmm!
Fast forward to once I’d washed out the formula when I got home about an hour or so later. My hair felt incredible. I think that is even a bit of an understatement. The fact that the formulation is formaldehyde-free really made a difference to the texture of my strands. But the real test? Was how manageable it would be…
To put it in perspective, normally once I wash my hair, I struggle to run my fingers through it, and though Taylor had warned me that my hair wouldn’t be dead straight, just relaxed – I couldn’t believe how smooth and silky my hair was – without me having to do anything to it! It gave new meaning to ‘wash and go’ for me. I was in heaven! Now, two months on, my hair is still silky smooth, a little wavy and feels far healthier than ever before due to the lack of mid-week straightening. Though I’ll need to go back in around a month for another session, this is one beauty treatment I won’t be giving up anytime soon!
