The hair essential you're definitely underestimating
When we ask ourselves what makes a great-looking head of hair, many of us would shriek "the colour!" or "the style!" but I'm here to tell you that nothing makes a simple, sexy, effortless 'do like the perfect haircut.
Yep, it's true. It may seem a little obvious, but for a long time I was so focused on achieving the perfect hair colour that I never stopped to realise why my hair never seemed to just 'fall' into place like other girls' hair did.
Was I over styling? Was my hair too dry? I booked myself in for regular trims so split ends weren't the big issue. I just couldn't figure it out, and it really started to bug me!
It wasn't until I visited the hairdresser just a few days ago and complained of my problem that she suggested putting a few layers through my hair and around my face to help 'lift' some of the weight and inject more shape into my 'do. Now I've had layers before and had since grown them out, so I was a little apprehensive to go the chop all over again, but hey - who am I to disagree with the one holding the scissors?
Low and behold, I walked out of the salon with perfectly flicky ends and flirty pieces around my face that looked like they'd been pulled from the pages of a magazine. The real test though? How my hair fell after a shower. The answer? Perfectly. I didn't feel the need to style as vigorously with my team of tools as I normally do. The cut just made my hair work.
This recount of a haircut may sound a little silly, but it's made me realise the importance of having a haircut that suits your face shape, it's integral if you're after hair the behaves and won't take hours of styling to look just right.
So go on, get down to your hairdresser and invest your dollars in a cut that will take the hassle out of hair styling.
How has a great cut changed your grooming ways?
