5 ways to make your hair grow faster

Curtain fringes and French bobs may be the cuts of the moment, but long hair will always have a place in our hearts.
And whether you're looking to grow out a cut got wrong, gain length in time for your wedding day or trying to slow the effects of hair thinning, there are some things you can do to encourage hair growth. Or, at the very least, keep your length in tip-top condition for healthier hair all-round...

#1 Load up on wholefoods
True health begins on the inside. Want long, shiny strands? Up your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables containing silica and zinc – these minerals are key for hair growth. You can find silica in leafy green vegetables, cucumber and strawberries, while red meat, spinach and nuts (particularly cashews) are high in zinc. Eat up!
If you struggle to get enough vitamins and minerals in your diet, consider taking a supplement. Swisse Ultiboost Hair Skin Nails Liquid is loaded with nutrients essential for strong, healthy nails, hair and skin.
#2 Brush, brush, brush
Brushing stimulates your scalp’s blood circulation and spreads its natural oils evenly over your hair. This is really important for hair follicle health and new hair growth. For best results, spend two minutes brushing your hair every morning and night. We recommend using a high quality boar bristle brush – like the iconic Mason Pearson Handy Pure Bristle – as they specialise in stimulating blood flow.
#3 Get regular trims
We all know getting regular trims helps hair to grow faster, but how many of us actually do this? I’m guilty of skipping the odd appointment. Regular trims will stop your ends from splitting and breaking off – and your hair will never grow longer if it keeps breaking. Makes sense, right? So visit your hairdresser, beauties, and keep those strands strong.
#4 Minimise use of hair tools
Constantly blow-drying, straightening and curling your hair certainly takes its toll. If you want long, luscious hair, it’s best to minimise the use of heat-activated tools. Cut your time in front of the mirror and extend the life of your straight/wavy/curly ‘do with a good dry shampoo. We like Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. And when you do style your hair, make sure you use a heat protection spray like Hot muk Thermal Protector.
#5 Apply a hair mask
Get in the habit of using a deep conditioning hair mask once a week. It’ll work wonders in repairing damage, increasing shine and ensuring your hair is as healthy as can be. Dove Nutritive Solutions Intensive Repair Treatment Mask penetrates deep into the hair shaft to moisturise and restore elasticity. And if your mane is really damaged, leave the mask on overnight, and wash it out in the morning.

I rarely blow dry my hair so it may be much better. Having a hair wash massage at hairdresser is beneficial.

Great article, I've been deep conditioning my hair for a long time it's always soft afterwards plus use an oil on my hair when I'm going out.

Growing length is not so much of a problem for me. Body and volume on the other hand...

I usually air dry my hair. It was past hip-length until I set it on fire with a candle on Anzac Day in my driveway. Luckily it was wet, but I had to trim about 10cm off. It's now just past waist-length.
I like having long hair because there are so many ways I can wear it. I do masks regularly: I apply a mask & sleep in a plait, then shampoo it out the next day.

I wondered why my hair was growing so fast but then I remembered that I haven't been using hair tools and I've been taking care of it more. I really recommend taking a break from hot tools and using a hair mask 2-3 times a week, I really like the Garnier hair food in banana or aloe vera :) I haven't tried the dove mask but I will have to have a look into it thanks BH.

Fun to read about this topic - long hair is also a fave of mine but sometimes I see a short haircut on a woman and I think it looks so good and I kinda want to have that done too but then I know I would not look the same as they do in their short haircut.

My hair grows pretty quickly so I have a trim every six weeks and I regularly use a nourishing oil overnight.

I desperately need a trim but I’m in Melbourne, so I’m thinking it might be a while before I get around to it.
