Priyanka Chopra credits her glossy hair to these pantry products

While she may be the name on everyone’s lips due to the announcement of her recent engagement (Nick Jonas, we approve) - the actress is also known for her glossy mane of hair. The secret it turns out isn’t high end hair products but in fact a few affordable pantry products, she revealed in a video with Vogue.

The actress’ unusual mix consists of three common pantry (or fridge) products, including yoghurt, honey and an egg. “You start with full-fat yoghurt. It helps hydrate the scalp and cool it down,” she explains, noting that non-flavoured works the best. She then adds a teaspoon of honey to the mix before adding an egg, which she credits as her magic ingredient. She then “puts it on for 30 minutes, and then [washes] it out with baby shampoo [and] warm water.”
She goes on to say that the recipe was “taught to us by our [mums] and [grandmothers] and they’re little secrets that I wanted to share with you.”
Do you have any at-home beauty remedies that you love? What do you think of this one?

Another article that suggests eggs on hair. It is true because a friend of mine uses eggs as a hair mask and her hair shines and glows as a result. i am just too lazy to do that or either I don't have time for that.

I would definitely recommend hot oil massages for maintaining healthy hair and it doesn't have to be coconut oil always . It could be other oils depending on your personal preferences ( olive oil, almond oil etc). I sometimes give my hair a good hot oil massage 1 hour before head wash and those days i skip conditioner application. DIY's are a mess i agree and i would also prefer to pick up a bottle of hair treatment from over the shelf but i do want to give DIY's a try. I know it would be time consuming and a lot of effort and the results won't be instant but if the wait is worth it then why not!!!

No idea who she is. I sometimes use coconut oil in my hair as a treatment.

This homemade DIY stuff can work absolute miracles - I used to mix coconut oil, olive oil, egg yolk and avocado and my hair would come out thick, strong and soft after the wash... but BOY was it a lot of work. Not just the gathering of the ingredients and mixing them but just cleaning up after the application and taking your time really washing it out. If your hair desperately needs a pick me up but your wallet cannot help out, sure, amazing idea... but I wouldn't call it self-pampering. It's just creating more cleaning work LOL

I think the same thing when I read about DIY remedies. I have tried them once or twice but the clean up put me off trying them again :(

I don't really have time for DIY treatments.. I'd prefer something ready made

When one of my daughters was recovering from a surgery she decided that we were having beauty days and she spent her time on google looking for at home beauty treatments from the pantry. It was fun but not something that I would do on a regular basis.

Sorry I’m way too lazy to try this and sounds messy and sticky ugh! I will stick to something from a bottle or tub.

Not for me, I think it would be too hard to wash out.

Well, this DIY hair mask seems to be working well for her

To be honest I'd rather have something that comes in a tube/container and takes just 5 minutes in the shower instead! ; )

I use melted coconut oil, raw honey and egg yolk. I leave it in my hair for as long as possible, usually 3-4hrs. Someone mentioned this treatment on the forum and I've tried it and I love it. I don't do it as frequently as I should.

It's the best. I make a mayonnaise of sorts with ACV, egg yolk and rosehip and apply it. Flat beer works wonders too as it’s loaded with vitamin B but make sure to wash it out so you don't smell like a brewery!

Haha I wouldn't want to smell like a brewery. What is ACV and what rosehip do you use?

ACV is apple cider vinegar, sorry for not clarifying that earlier.
I purchase rosehip from a cosmetic ingredients wholesaler.
New Directions, Escentials Australia, Sydney Essential Oil Company and Auroma all sell rosehip and other oils at various price points and grades.
I keep a little bottle of Trilogy or Kosmea in my handbag for using on the go.

I’ve heard this kind of remedy does wonders. I’ve tried coconut oil and unfortunately wasn’t hydrating enough on my hair. I’ve heard beer is great too. The idea of rubbing egg in my hair doesn’t appeal.

I'm so relieved the article didn't say "coconut oil" even once. It must work for some people, but it was a disaster for me. I don't think I'll be trying this one though. I hate the idea of smearing egg through my hair.

Haha, the coconut craze seems to be dying a bit.

Yogurt and egg is a very good combination, a super food for hair. But it can be very messy. I'm trying out hot oil treatment using Nigella seed oil to treat my thinning hair. It makes my hair looks lustrous too :)

I like the simple life. I'd rather just pick up a bottle of ready made than have to make up a mask myself.

She's gorg..
I like the idea of homemade-pantry hair treatments but they are too messy. Like someone else commented I have ended up with bits of scrambled egg in my hair

Well the egg hair mask is hardly a secret - that's something I've been aware of for ages.
In terms of natural at home hair treatments - coconut oil hair masks are fantastic! My grandmother also always used burdock and nettle to wash her hair with and she had long locks well into her 80s.
