I would love your opinions please!!
Hi everyone, I know I've been gone a while but I have been super busy with a few projects at the moment and I was hoping to get some valuable insight from all you lovely BHers.
I'm in the process of building a brand and I was hoping you could all help me identify some key areas to focus on. Mainly, I'm looking to pinpoint any gaps in the market that you feel might exist. The kinds of questions I'm looking to answer are things like:
- Do you ever wish there was a specific product out there for you but you haven't yet been able to find it?
- For the lovely mums and mums-to-be, how easy was it to find pregnancy safe products? Do you wish it had been more simple getting information or that there was a specific pregnancy-safe brand?
- For those of you in your teens, or those with children in this age range, what do you look for in the products you use, or purchase for your children? Again, do you wish there was a product out there that you just haven't been able to find?
I'm trying to build up from my own personal experience and see if there are others out there that felt the same way I did, both when I was younger and during pregnancy. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated and certainly not forgotten if all goes well xx

Brightens and softens the skin
Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque is a good working facial mask. It contains cranberry and turmeric which is great for the skin.
Hydrates the skin
Simple Reviving Under-Eye Hydrogel Mask is a really good product. It applies under the eyes and offers hydration for the eyes. It contains minerals and plant extracts that are good for the skin.

Thanks so much for the great feedback! The eye cream is on my to-do list for when I get my brand out there and I'm ready to expand the range. So I'll keep this in mind!
Hi annette81,
I will dive into the subject directly, suncare should be cheap if you could create a sunblock that affordable, good value 200 ml and above, matte, fragrance-free. I will be your happiest customer. Also, it should be no fragrance in any skincare. Thank you and good luck with your project.
Thanks so much! Sunblock is a tricky one to start with, as it's considered a pharmaceutical, not a cosmetic, so more regulations. Cost-wise, I need to get established and earn an income before I can commit to that side of the industry, but it's definitely on my to-do list!
Ladies, thank you all so much for responding, there's some really great feedback here! So I wanted to let you all know that I'm starting with an overnight mask/treatment and investing good money in getting the formulation right. It's a time-consuming process but I refuse to put out a substandard product. When my samples are ready and approved, I'd love to send you all some to try! But that's still several months away :)
I don't have anything to add, Annette, but I wish you success and would be interested if you have time to update us during your exciting business venture xx
Thanks so much IndieAna!
I don’t really have any skin issues. It can be a bit sensitive sometimes, but that’s it. Never had acne. I know I’m very lucky. But my poor mum is struggling to find something affordable to help with her super sensitive skin. You name it, she’s tried it. She just hasn’t got the funds for high end products. I have purchased her a few but sadly she’s reacted to most of them. Daughter in laws mum suffers badly from eczema and rosacea. She’s also struggling to find something to help. I think that if someone could create products to help with sensitive skin, eczema etc, I think you would do well.
I wasn’t concerned about what I used on my skin during my pregnancies. But my pregnancies were 27 and 29 years ago. Nobody worried about these kind of things. It just never entered my mind. I’ve never smoked and rarely drink, but no one thought about what you put on your skin.
Good luck Annette. Just keep it simple and affordable.
Thanks Rose, I'm definitely leaning towards rosacea targeted products.
Have you thought about a bb cream? I know this sounds silly, but I wish I could find myself a good bb cream that’s actually fair enough for my pale skin. I’m in my 20’s now but in my teenage years, I use to wear heavy foundation....and quite a lot I might add. Being young and lazy, I was pretty shocking at removing the makeup at the end of the day. This probably contributed to my problematic skin later on.....who knows! Im not a parent myself, but if I was, I would probably feel more comfortable with my child using a bb cream rather than a thick/full coverage foundation. Something that isn’t harsh on the skin, evens out the skin tone and a good shade range.
Great feedback, thanks so much!
Couldn’t agree more. Most BB creams I’ve tried are either way too dark for my fair skin, or turn orange on me. These so called ‘self adjusting’ ones have never worked for me either.
Hi...not trying to go behind Anette's back or anything as I wish her all the very best...but it's true that most Aussies seem to want the sun-kissed look...not me though...I love my very pale olive skin... I use Korean BB creams I find them light in formula and light in clour...I have no trouble at all buying them from a supplier here in AU or from OS...you should try them ...you would never go back to general AU made products...
This is actually amazing feedback and exactly the kind of thing I need to know. Clearly this is a huge gap in the Australian market and definitely something to discuss with my formulation scientist! Thanks so much!
If I could get similar products here in AU to Korean skincare I would be happy... ie...mild no harsh chemicals small ingredient lists and effective I would need a good cleansing oil or balm that emulsifies a ph balanced cleanser ph of 5.5 a mild moisturizer that is emollient... an onclusive and for night something with both prickly pear and sea buckthorn...plus a good retinol...fragrance free definitely...plus a good physical sunscreen...which I know is the hardest of all...Oh and a good leave-on industrial strength...AHA overnight mask higher than 5% for aging skin...smile!! Sorry big ask...I know!!
Hi everyone! Thanks for all your feedback, I was wondering if you could also take a few minutes to fill in a survey for me? The more detailed, the better the formulation will be. I've already made note of all the suggestions in this thread, but i'm hoping you lovely ladies can also pass on the survey to all your friends and family to fill out too?

I have also filled out your survey! Good luck with everything.

You are welcome ☺️
Hi everyone, just wanted to post a reminder to please fill in my survey if you can! I have some received some great feedback so far and i think i've narrowed down the product, but the more responses i get, the better it will be.
Thanks to everyone that has already taken the time to complete it and don't forget to enter your email at the end if you would like a free sample when it is ready!
