Argan Oil for Face
Argan Oil for Face
Hi beauties!
I'm curious about Argan Oil in terms of skincare. Does anyone use Argan Oil in their skincare, particularly The Ordinary 100% Argan Oil? What are your experiences/thoughts?
I've honestly only been using it for my hair instead of a conditioner and it has been a MAJOR game changer! Now I'm curious about it's skin benefits.

Regular buyer for a long time.
Im stuck buying this product literally. I used it when my children were babies and now there a bit older and understand they no bath, cream, then bed. No cream = no bed for 3 very angry toddlers.
Smooth cream that doesn’t feel too heavy
This moisturiser has a lovely smooth texture and glides onto my skin beautifully. I found it left my skin feeling soft and supple and it also wears well under makeup.
Goodness in a Jar
After more than a week of using Pro X by Olay Anti Aging Wrinkle Smoothing Cream I can really say that the I ❤️ the product;

My favourite type of oil is argan oil! Everyone seems to love rosehip but it doesn't agree with my skin. I've tried The Ordinary's Argan Oil and I could only use it a few times before I had to completely stop - it smells HORRIBLE. So gross I had to hold my breath every time I applied it and breathe through my mouth for a few minutes afterwards. Honestly the best (and most detailed) way I can describe it, is that it smells like someone's bad breath. I wouldn't recommend it at all.
I've tried a lot of them and my favourite is the Moreish Liquid Gold 100% Pure Argan Oil - it's available at Priceline for $30/bottle but I stock up during skincare sales for $18/bottle. It's a godsend for my extremely dry skin and doesn't break me out whatsoever. Just gives me soft, supple, luminous glowy skin.

That's their website. I love their philosophy and all their products are argan-oil based. I haven't tried a lot but like I mentioned, their Liquid Gold 100% Pure Argan Oil I adore.
Woah, really? I haven't noticed anything about the smell (maybe I can tolerate it?). I've seen that one in PL a few times and now I'm going to actually check it out! =)
I used to use Silk Oil of Morocco argan oil for my hair (98% cold pressed certified organic argan oil and 2% natural vitamin E). The company is Australian owned. I don't recall the oil having a strong scent. I bought the argan oil from TVSN, the home shopping network (in addition to some of the company's hair products).
Petal, The Ordinary sell a pure, unrefined 100% AO for around $12! I am absolutely floored at the discovery and it's only the beginning of 2018 ^_^
Bluebite I haven't tried Argan but my sister in law says its fantastic for her dry skin. Still my favourite is the Rosehip which suits my skin the best.
I've been using it for two days and I seriously cannot believe how much better than RHO it is! It is perfect for dry/sensitive skin; no breakouts; brighter, smoother, softer, more glowing skin and most importantly, it totally heals and purifies the skin! I now use it for my face, hair and dry lips and it is a major game changer. I find it less greasy/shiny/"oily" and drying that RHO and it soaks into the skin so well and so quick but it literally leaves your skin GLOWING and hydrated. I really think I can wear this during the day time in winter. =)
A few winters ago Argan Oil was the only skincare product I used after the shower - it was amazing. Used it day and night and my skin was like clouds. Not sure why I stopped, should get back on it.
BlueBite Have you tried TO's Marula Oil?
Ethelinde No I don't think I will. I honestly have never tried Marula oil before (never heard of it actually) so I don't know if it would be suitable for my skin.
Hi Bluebite,
I've Argan Oil in my shampoo/conditioner amongst other ingredients & I absolutely love the product's on my hair that I use but in terms of skincare I've not tried this. In my case that would be too oily for my skin, I too like Rosehip as a serum on my face & use Shea Butter as a body lotion & found these product's work best for me.
I've tried it on my hair but hate it. Find it makes it really stringy and oily :(
Interesting, bluebite. I have tried putting argan oil (not 100% though) in my hair - I don't mind it but it feels very greasy so I didn't think of putting it on my face. But I would try if it is better than RHO - I've been using RHO and I actually quite like the Sukin one - I think I might like it better than the Trilogy one which everyone else seems to love.
Skincare Junkie this will be a LONG REVIEW to help you:
The Ordinary Argan oil only lists argan oil as the ingredient and it says that it is unrefined and unfiltered to ensure full benefits.
HAIR: I have fine, thin hair which is super straight (used to be wavy a few years ago) and I think it's pretty normal—not dry or damaged but just a little frizzy (my scalp gets oily though). I apply four drops on my palms, rub them together then smooth my hair with my hands to spread the oil (my hair is shoulder length and I only apply from the middle and down). It doesn't make my hair greasy or weighed down—the oil actually gives my hair such a healthy glow and it makes it more bouncy and wavy as well as less frizzy. It definitely smoothes and softens my hair, which is why I completely gave up on conditioner and use this instead. Sometimes all I do is run my hand through my hair and walk out the door! xD
FACE: AO is definitely better than RHO for my dry/sensitive skin. It is more hydrating and less greasy for me, it absorbs fast but not in a dry sense—you'll see your skin getting more plump. It definitely brightens my skin and makes it glow. I've been using it for more than three nights and my breakouts on my forehead are almost gone and my skin looks so even and less red. The pores on my cheeks are also less obvious and my face looks less dull even when I sleep at 3 A.M. My lips are super dry and cracked but ever since I started using the oil as a treatment at night, my lips have become more hydrated—I barely need any lip balm now.
Honestly, I never imagined such a product would exist. I was so scared to try it but if it makes you feel better, apparently AO tightens and cleans pores (among other awesome things) and has a 0 comedogenic rating (won't block pores or cause blackheads).
Give it a try, I promise it'll be the best thing ever. =)
Thanks so much Bluebite! I will add it to my next TO order. I don't have dry skin (my skin is normal) so hopefully it will work just as well!
No problem! Try using it after toning alone to see if your skin will have any benefits or negative reactions. Hope it works for you like it worked for me ^_^
its amazing for dry skin and hair
I've reported the previous post by qwert as spam. He/she is probably not aware that we can buy argan oil in Australia.
