Hi, My 15 wants to start shaving, even though his facial hair is blonde, it is quiet thick. I need advice on what kind of electric shaver I could purchase. I have had advice from family that if he starts with electric he will never have to use a razor, but if he starts with a razor, he will never be able to electric. Help!!! I'm so confused.

You can use a razor if you've been using an electric shaver and vice versa. My hubby has gone from one to the other and back again and there was no problems for him doing this swapping around. Maybe it would be safer and thus easier for your son to start with an electric though as he won't be able to cut himself accidently. My hubby used a simple Remington (until oneday he dropped it and it broke).
my son is 13 and has dark hair, so his facial growth is really quite noticable. I'm trying to get him to hold out as long as possible as he is only going into yr 8 this year- and kids can be so cruel. He is already the victim of some bullying. I dont know wheter him shaving will give these kids another reason to pick on him. Any ideas?
As soon as my boys started having facial hair growth, I brought them a shaver. They were thrilled. My eldest son started at 14. If he is being bullied because of his facial hair its better just to shave it off. I don't think either electric shaver or razor make much difference, they do the same job. Maybe the electric shaver might be a safer option, if you don't want him cutting himself.
Hi Notatall,I have two sons my youngest is fifteen and started shaveing this year,My oldest is 21 and i tought him to use a normal shaver at the age of fourteen,Now hes 21 his girlfreind brought him an eletric shaver and he preferes the every day razor as he says its a cleaner shave.My 14 year old shaves once a week at the moment i tought him to use a regular razor as learning from my oldest son its a cleaner shave and if your 15 year old has a couple of pimples the aftershave lotion after a shave with a regular razor cleans them right up.I dont know about you but when i was a teenager myself i used to use mum and dads razor and dads hand razor was the best.I hope this helps you.OLLAH
Hi purfume nut,Maybe you should let your 13 year old shave if its causeing him greif at schhol kids are very crule when they stand out and if a simple thing like shaveing helps his life at school you have done your job well.My freinds son at the age of 12 had the same problem and i gave her the same advice and the greif stopped at school the rotten kids picked on him for other reasons but not on such a personal level.I hope this helps you and your son good luck.
He can do either but the difference between using a foil, rotary or disposable razor is a different growth. If he starts with one and changes it will take a couple of goes with the new one for the hair to grow in the same way. Rotaries are best for heavier growth and then it comes down to personal preference. As you go up in price the main difference is a closer shave (a better and more advanced cutter) and a shorter recharge time (8 hour charge, compared to 1 hour charge)
oh and if your son (or whoever your buying for) has acne don't buy rotary (Philips), buy a foil (Braun) as motion of cutting won't aggravate it
