A great and affordable foundation
This foundation is my go to affordable foundation, as someone who naturally is quite pale with the foundation I've been able to find a shade that is perfect.
Looks nice
Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara is a cool mascara. Its easy to apply and it doesn't smudge or leave clumping on the lashes. It is creamy and the brush is nice to use.

You will need a nail foil; I've chosen one with a pretty flower pattern.
Nail Foil Glue or Adhesive; this particular one was purchased cheaply on EBay.
A cotton bud or orange stick to rub the foil and transfer the image to the nail after the nail foil glue has been applied and is dry.
This is the base colour I am using on my nails today. It is Sinful Colors "Exotic Green".
Apply the Nail Foil Glue to the nail in a single layer. It applies white and turns clear when it is dry. When dry it will be very tacky so make sure to keep items away from the nail or they will stick to it.
It is best to apply foils one nail at a time from start to finish.
Once the Nail Foil Glue turns clear, place the nail foil on top of the nail. It will stick to the nail at one spot.
Using either a cotton bud or orange stick, rub on the foil from that spot outwards and all over the nail so that the foil sticks to all areas of the nail.
As you continue rubbing the foil onto the nail, you will notice the plastic lifting from the nail and the pattern transferring to the nail.
A good nail foil will transfer completely and the plastic sheet should come away from the nail cleanly and completely.
This is the result.
Here the nail foils on the nails aren't sealed with top coat yet. You will notice that some nail foil goes beyond the nail or there are some residual bits of foil. This can be tidied up by using the pointy end of an orange stick. You can also use a cotton bud dipped in a little nail polish remover to clean the foil from around the nail.
The nail foil is very delicate and is easily dissolved by nail polish remover.
If you order a Nail Foil Kit from EBay, it will come with Nail Foils, Nail Foil Glue and a bottle of Clear Top Coat. This top coat is specifically designed for nail foils especially the metallic shiny ones because it causes minimal change to the foil.
Note : If using a nail foil that is completely metallic, top coats usually make the surface of the foil crinkle. A water soluble top coat is advised but the drying time of such a top coat is very long too.
I apply the supplied top coat that comes with the kit and when it is dry, I add a second layer of clear top coat of a brand of my choosing.
Some nails with nail foils.
After clear top coat has been applied to the nail foil.
Note: Don't expect a mani with nail foils to last a long time. The nature of the nail foil means that it can be easily scratched off despite a layer of top coat. So with such a mani, I would avoid rummaging in my cluttered handbag for car keys. LOL !!!
Despite this, nail foils give a pretty and unique nail look which will attract many compliments. It is good for a special occasion or just for a change :).
Completed Nail Foil Mani for today
Wow...you make it look easy ;)
It is easy Peach perfect :). The simplest way to start is by purchasing a Nail Foil Kit from EBay for $10-12. Mine included 6 nail foils, nail foil adhesive, nail foil clear top coat and sometimes a couple of orange sticks or 2 colours of a few rhinestone adorments.
I ordered nail foils from the Eastern States once but for some reason I could not get them to transfer completely. I wasn't sure if I should have ordered the nail foil adhesive as well and thought they would work with the nail foil adhesive I had.
So now I only order my nail foils from China. Apart from working well, they are so much cheaper too. You don't need to be an expert to apply these as long as you have the nail foil "Star Glue" adhesive too and the corresponding clear top coat.
Quite tempted to try it out now :)
Great tutorial, Arty. I love the design of the foil and it looks fabulous over the green base colour.
Thanks Indie. The photo is a bit blur because the light was fading but I'll try to take a better one in the morning :).
I haven't seen this type of nail foil - I've only seen the sticker-type. The pics are gorgeous! Great tutorial & tips, Arty Girl!
misfortune8, the stickers are a different kind of nail art decoration altogether as are the water decals and nail foils. The techniques for application are very different from each other.
Btw, I've just discovered a way of making the nail foils more wear proof which I am very pleased about. I will let everyone know what I did in a separate comment here. Btw, you are very welcome :).
Honestly, Arty Girl, you're a genius and a beautifully generous one too. This is incredible and so easy to follow. Thank you so much for the time and effort and willingness to share. You're a legend!!!!
Thank you Trish. As you know, I love painting my nails and "playing" with nail art decorations. I ind it such fun and I love getting compliments about my manis when I'm out and about. It takes no trouble to post a helpful tutorial on Beauty Heaven; not since my family bought me a digital camera so that I can do so 5 years ago :).
I love your step-by-step guide, Arty Girl. Your nails look fabulous.
Thanks onlyoni :). When I came back from my holiday, my nails and cuticles were in a right state!!! Torn cuticles, dry nails and hangnails. I thought I would never get my nails back to what they were because I had neglected them for months !!!So I started using cuticle oil nightly once again and I kept trimming the lose skin bits around my nails with a nail clipper. After 2-4 weeks my nails came back into condition again as you now see them. Also, Inever leave my hands without hand cream when they start to feel dry. Like now for instance. LOL !!!
This is awesome! They look so good! Thanks for the time and effort you put in to this, it's really helpful for people like me who are useless at nails.
You are welcome *Lizabella" :). I get so much from being a Member of Beauty Heaven; useful information, tips and free trial products too that I feel that I need to give back when I can. Plus I enjoy doing so too :).
Thanks for sharing!! Excellent tutorial. Really love the colour and foil you chose, it's gorgeous and perfect for summer.
