I was lucky to win a couple of soap bars from a competition here but I can't seem to find the product/ brand listed anywhere on the site?
My partner has eczema and it is one of the very few soaps he will use so I'd like to share my thoughts on it if possible :)
Congratulations on your prize.
The brand might not be on bh anymore. Sometimes they aren't listed after a while.
You can't review a product not listed under brands but what you can do is share the brand and the soaps and your thoughts like a review on the forum like here. Please feel free to share your review here.
Hope this has helped x
What brand/product is it? :)
Goat soap from Goatskincare :)
Which scent was it? I remember the comp and I might be wrong but I also remember there were links to the pages of the soaps to be won but they may have been removed (maybe because it's no longer sold?). Not sure. My memory is a bit iffy but if you clarify with specific scent I might remember something.
it's the manuka honey one :)
I've been wondering about the same thing, but I suppose not all brands can be listed on BH.
Brands pay to be listed on the BH site, that's why they aren't all listed.
I thought that'd be the case. It's a little disappointing though because then it's not truly independent =/
User reviews submitted on BH are as unbiased and honest as it gets.
It makes sense that brands should pay to be listed on BH as it's a platform to have their products publicised and honestly reviewed by a targeted demographic that takes other peer reviews into consideration prior to purchase. BH provides that platform as a service like any other business. The brands are not paying the users to submit reviews. BH also in no way influences the content of the reviews. The good, bad and ugly are all published.
But it's that certain selection of brands are published that makes it biased. It doesn't give you a whole picture of everything that is out there, they may be some really good stuff out there but we can't review them because a brand didn't pay for it. And also, if a brand is to pay up they want positive reviews, if they get heaps of negative reviews then they will obviously stop paying and their products and negative reviews gets removed.
I'm not really sure where your info is coming from, bettina44.
It depends on the brand but there are negative reviews published which have remained published to date. Brands with predominantly positive reviews have also left BH, e.g. Nuxe. Brands also take heed of negative reviews, which prompts them to reformulate their products, especially if negative reviews highlight adverse reactions to formulations. They don't pull their brand from BH necessarily because of negative reviews - that's a generalisation and not accurate.
BH doesn't claim to be a comprehensive database of all brands available on the market. I'm not sure there is even one online. Not even Beautypedia covers every brand there is on the market. I don't think that necessarily means what is published on BH is a skewed or somehow incomplete picture of what is available on the market, or that what is published is biased.
But a brand will pull out if it doesn't make economical sense and negative or average reviews could be one of those reasons. It's not unreasonable to think that. I don't expect every single product to already be listed here but it would be nice to have a option where users can review something not already listed or make a suggestion for the to have something listed.
If you really want a brand listed, you could always contact BH and just ask. There is probably more to this than we all understand considering brands are proprietary. I don't think you can list a brand online on this sort of platform without consent from the brand, otherwise you run the risk of passing off some sort of affiliation with the brand.
I think the way it works is great and makes complete sense (that the companies pay to be listed on BH). It's a great marketing tool if they really believe in what they have to offer, as it's the consumers that are marketing their products for them through raw & honest opinion (which I trust way more than ads). Now that e-commerce has boomed, more and more people are looking up and relying on online reviews. I search for an online review before every product I purchase. I want to make sure it has worked for a lot of people and that there's a higher chance I'm not going to waste money because refunding stuff in Australia is a crap process!
BH have their staff to pay. If brands were listed for free it wouldn't be able to be up and running. They wouldn't be able to do giveaways, Beautorium, Trial Teams, Discovery Bags etc. They also need staff to write articles/editors, moderators/staff to check reviews etc. The list goes on. You need people/a team to organise all these events and activities and BH wouldn't be the absolutely AMAZING place it is without companies paying to be listed. It doesn't just go in the company's favor but also BH's favor and our favor, too! It's a fantastic thing all around! Plus, I don't know one review site that is as fun and exciting as BH. All these extra incentives that BH adds on to a 'review' site make it the more awesome and addictive - that's why I'm on every day! Really smart business.
I'd Love to be able to do this too. Even if it was in a suggested area so these products can be followed up
same here, I have the new real techniques concealor brush but cant find it anywhere. I want to write a review because I love it so much
bettina44, if you really want to write a review for The Goat Skincare's product/s, you could probably leave some feedback on their Facebook page. I found it here:
I'm not on Facebook, but I assume that it is possible to leave reviews on company websites.
