Does anyone know if it is safe to use Carla Oates Glow during pregnancy? It's made from whole foods but I'm still hesitant. If anyone here has asked their doc I would love to know as my next appointment is next Wednesday and I really want to start taking it again before then.
annette81, I doubt that most mainstream doctors would know about the products by Carla Oates unless they specialise in complementary therapies. Carla's website says the following about taking her products during pregnancy:
"However, because there hasn’t been any studies that specifically show them to be safe in pregnancy or when breastfeeding, we are not at this stage able to recommend their use during these times."

Thanks for responding Petal :)
I took the time to give customer service a call earlier and they said the same thing as the website, however they recommended that I take the container to my doc and show him the ingredients. I was just hoping someone had already done this so I don't have to wait until next week!!
annette81, the response by Carla's customer service is not surprising. She probably has to legally protect herself from getting into trouble just in case someone that is pregnant or breastfeeding has complications as a result of using one of her products.
It's pretty frustrating to not be able to get a clear answer. The only company that was clear in their response was Emma Hardie. Everyone else just handballed to my doc and I can't very well take a whole bathroom cabinet of products for him to look at all the ingredients :(
In case anyone is interested, Emma Hardie responded saying the cleansing balm (the product I enquired about) is safe during pregnancy but as it contains essential oils, many mothers choose not to use it during pregnancy. I erred on the side of caution and waited until my 2nd trimester to start using it again.
It's so frustrating isn't it, such a cop out. My obstetrician is pretty easy going, he wasn't concerned with too much My midwife had a bit of a closer look at the Glow Powder and said probably her first thoughts where really on the mung beans/Alfa sprouts etc as they are typically foods that women get cautioned against for the use in pregnancy (higher incidence of food poisoning) I actually did continue with it only 1-2 per week though, for me I've found the glow powder really helps keep me feeling healthier in general though, so I decided it was better to keep my immune system up.
Thanks so much PrettyPrincess! You have no idea how helpful this is.
I like the idea of maybe having 1-3 per week as it really does help me feel better when I take it.
Thanks again!!
