Favourite Shops/Shopping Centres For Beauty Buying
Locally, I like the DJ's and Priceline best for Beauty buying. My closest DJ's is at Tuggerah Westfield which is a good half hour drive from my house. Otherwise Priceline is always pretty cool but I still have to drive 15 minutes to get to a small one. My bigger Priceline is at Westfield Tuggerah.
Going into the City (Sydney) is always fun but it's a 1.5 hour train trip to get there. I'm looking at the Newcastle areas as it's only just over one hour to get there and I'm not sure how good their DJ's, Myer or Priceline is as I've never actually been there!
Any tips from members?
I like Myer for beauty but my local one is a very small Myer and doesn't have many of the biggest names.

The perfect!
I have just tried the Watermelon color from essie and my nails looks stunning! I love the vibrant color and received lots of compliments for.
Covers well
Rimmel London Wake Me Up Anti-Fatigue Concealer is a concealer that contains vitamin C. Its good for covering wrinkles, spots and goes well underneath the foundation. It lasts for up to 10 hours.
Light weight foundation
Rimmel London Wake Me Up Anti-Fatigue Foundation SPF 20 is a really lightweight foundation that applies well. I contains SFP20 and vitamin C which is good for the skin.

Up here in Darwin, we've got nothing! No Myer, no DJs. There's no MAC, no Dior, no Chanel. A few chemists have Clinique, Clarins, Estée Lauder, Lancome but that's pretty much it. So I go nuts when I go to Melbourne to visit the family. My favourite places to visit are Mecca, David Jones and Lush. I always manage to do some serious damage to the bank account, and I always come home with lots more luggage than I left with!
I live about 40 mins inland from Newcastle. Myer at Charlestown Square is okay although I prefer the one in Sydney as they have a BeneFit counter.
Benefit is great! I go to the Brow Bar at Myer, they are brow genius' in there!
I agree Margaret. Whenever I stay in Sydney, I get mine done there. Unfortunately it's not as often as I would like though!
Sephora in Sydney! You guys are so lucky to have that near you.
I used to love Myer when I worked in the city but now we have moved 12km out (work, not home) and we have a tiny Priceline, a Kmart and a Coles and that's it. I'm really busy so can't go on the weekends (family committments). But, I've just started selling Avon, so I'm getting what I need from the catalogues.
That's cool Marg759 that you have found a way!
Oooh I really want to go to a Benefit brow bar in Sydney now after reading this!
Sephora yeah! I haven't been to that yet either!!
I can tell you know softness that you're not missing much re: Sephora. It's not as good as the ones in the US sadly.
I do a lot of my beauty buying at priceline and or chemist warehouse.
I still haven't bought anything from Sephora as I wasn't impressed. The US stores are so much better
I'm a Myer/Priceline girl personally. I go to Chemist Warehouse for stuff like toothpaste, a new toothbrush, sunscreen & other odds & ends. Occasionally I go to Mecca, sometimes I go to health food stores for beauty stuff too. I'm not a loyalist by any means.
I love Myer when they have special offers (like if you buy something, they give you something for free). I will also go to Myer to get all my Nude by Nature stuff. I have recently started going to Priceline (mainly because everyone talks about it on here) but I haven't bought anything major from there except maybe the Australis Primer. I love Chemist Warehouse but I don't like how when you buy cosmetics there they have that big white sticker on them that's super annoying and hard to get off.
I switch around between Cosmo Cosmetics, Priceline, and Chemist Warehouse. I have yet to buy anything from Kmart or Target, although I think I might, one of these days. I love looking around at Mecca, but usually walk out empty-handed, lol.
Priceline. They have a huge variety.
I think I'm heading into Woollies today!
Priceline 100% or even Chemist Warehouse!
I have been to Westfields Tuggerah a few times with the family and its one of the best shopping centres up the Central Coast as it has everything. Its always been so busy as we had to go during the holiday season . Priceline is great everywhere as prices and products are all similar in any stores and again I say it again , it allows customers to browse and try products without a sales person pressuring you to buy . I remembered a time a friend of mine was upset because a sales person asked her 3 times if she needed help and she said I said NO and felt like swearing by that time . Kmart is good but a bit messy and sometimes dirty as people don't seem to care much about cleanliness. Myer is great when the exclusive brands go on sale . Chemist W'house has great prices and items but crowdiness can get overwhelming and it can make you want to faint . I always go browsing at the shops as it gives you an idea who sells what and where throughout the year .
When an SA walks up to me, I put the hand up & say "Browsing!" to him/her. If they go to say anything else, the hand comes back up & I repeat "Browsing!" a little louder. I told my niece once to just say that when they walk up & hassle her. She must have thought I was exaggerating when I told her that, because she started giggling when she witnessed me do it once.
Does anyone have any small beauty boutique faves they always visit for makeup and skincare buys? In Australia mostly?
Oceanry, can you please be more specific with your question? Are you looking for stores on the Internet or stores that you can visit in person? What kind of products are you looking for? Are you looking for budget products or high end products? What do you mean by "small beauty boutique"?
Spam Alert Petal as they’ve since posted at 4.34pm about a product with a sus blue link!
Kassalee, I've just seen Oceanry's post on the "what-is-your-all-time-favourite-skin-care-product?" thread, but the link is not appearing as blue on my computer screen. The brand Samson and Charlie recently joined BH. I will keep an eye on Oceanry's future posts as well as for the brand!
I swear it was blue when I posted about it Petal!
Absolutely! Thank you for the guidance - I needed that! I'm looking for recommendations of: 1. Stores you can visit in person 2. Stores that stock boutique brands (eg. Lab organics in Melbourne rather than Sephora) 3. Stores that stock both luxury and high street products (not budget products)
By "small beauty boutique" I mean stores that are usually smaller, boutique style that offer a small selection of brand the owner has chosen rather than a huge range of brands.
