Give ingrown toenails the flick
Contrary to popular belief, cutting a ‘V’ sized shape out of the nail will not encourage the edges of ingrown toenails to uncurl. The most effective ingrown toenail cure is to elevate the ingrown area of the nail (be warned, some ouch-factor involved). Soften ingrown toenails in warm water, clean with antiseptic, then gently wedge a small piece of a cotton ball under the ingrown part of the nail to elevate and prevent it growing further into the skin. Repeat this practice with a fresh piece of cotton ball each day. If there is no improvement within three days, consult your GP for an ingrown toenail treatment.
