The Apple effect
As I sit here typing away on my MAC computer, I can’t help but feel a little saddened. I didn’t know Steve Jobs personally, but you didn’t have to in order to recognise what a visionary and key influencer he was in the digital world.
As the genius who pioneered personal computers and co-founded Apple Inc, Steve Jobs revolutionised the way most of us think about and use technology. Beautyheaven.com.au founder Jackie revealed, “ Apple Macs made me comfortable with technology…I’m not sure I could have ever developed beautyheaven and its sister website beautydirectory.com.au with a PC.”
As for me, I was Apple Mac-oblivious until I got my job at beautyheaven, and was presented with a savvy, friendlier-looking version of a PC – my beloved Mac. I was immediately amazed by the freestyle nature of it all. I could place my folders wherever I wanted, enjoy heaps of shortcuts, even listen to my music more easily – the world was a better place. I’d truly found my fit. Plus it had the same name as one of my favourite make-up brands – what’s not to love!
It’s also thanks to Steve Jobs’ brilliance that we were able to launch our beautyheaven iPhone app – to be enjoyed by thousands of beauty lovers all over Australia. Not only has he effectively help expand the beautyheaven offering but also people’s way of life – by making information all the more accessible – and in turn, our lives a little bit more ‘beautiful’.
So thank you Steve Jobs, for everything you’ve done for not only us, but everyone who owns a Mac, iPhone, ipad or ipod. Your amazing innovations will be sorely missed.
