Love or loathe? Miley's grungy new hair
Social media sites almost exploded yesterday when Miley Cyrus tweeted pictures of her new hairdo – a style that’s significantly shorter, blonder, and grungier.
Some people have welcomed the new look with open arms, others aren’t exactly fans it. But one thing’s for sure, Miley loves it, and happily posted on her Twitter account that she’s “never felt more me in my whole life” and that she feels “so happy, pretty, and free”.
There’s no doubt you’ll have your own opinion of her cropped ‘do, but what do the experts think? Brad Ngata, owner/creative director of Brad Ngata Hair Direction salons, shares his thoughts on Miley’s controversial haircut.
He told bh: “I am LOVING Miley's new crop. She’s making the transition from country and western to really young and hip. It must be that hunk of an Aussie on her arm steering her in the right direction!
“The crop’s done very well – the undercut isn't too short, which keeps the cut looking young and fun. She’s got a cute face, so the floppy length on top will give her some great versatile styling options and the texture of her hair and the new bleach blonde colour adds a cool factor.”
And if this is a style you seriously think you could rock, Brad’s got some tips for you:
• If you’re thinking of trying this at home, be brave! This kind of look suits most face shapes – except possibly those with really square face shapes – and you can work with your hairdresser to balance things out by adding in a slightly longer fringe, or making it more square, altering the colour etc.
• This is an extreme colour change, so to keep hair from going to yellow I would recommend L’Oréal Professionnel Série Expert Silver Shampoo to refresh it.
• It’s super simple to style: begin with a little L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil to smooth things out, blow dry that in and use a few sprays of L’Oréal Professionnel Beach Fizz for texture. Voilà!
