Is this the key to a happy relationship?
What do you think is the key to a happy relationship? Honesty? Trust? Humour? Physical attraction?
Well, according to relationship counsellor Ian Keller, one of the untapped secrets lies in the ‘unfriend’ button on Facebook. Speaking to Public Radio International, he explained:
"I realised for a little while with my own wife that I didn't really want her to be my friend on Facebook. I didn't want all of that extra information. If anything, I wanted less information – I wanted more mystery and more unpredictability.”
That’s right, it has nothing to do with jealousy or the countless invitations to play Dragon City - it’s more about adding a little more light and shade to your relationship.
"I didn't want to know that she was posting about being tired or having her third coffee for the day. So I specifically unfriended her during my brief tenure on Facebook. It's something that I do recommend to couples. There's something about being in a relationship where you want some unknowingness and some unpredictability."
Does this also mean we have to unfollow them on Instagram and Twitter? Ian, please respond!
