4 tips for preventing bad breath

Of all the days a lady is likely to spend a decent amount of time kissing another being, it is her wedding day. But said smooching is not just limited to the newly crowned husband – she’s likely to be found planting her lips on the cheeks of guests, too.
This presence of constant puckering up is precisely why it is important to have minty fresh breath on your big day. So, avoid partnering terribly stinky breath with your fancy white frock by pocketing these four tips…
4 TIPS FOR PREVENTING BAD BREATH
#1. Scrape your tongue.
Brushing and flossing are sensational for a healthy mouth, but the main source of halitosis is a tongue festering with bacteria and food particles. By using a tongue scraper, you’ll get rid of this layer of filth, taking your bad breath with it.
#2. Chew sugar-free gum.
When it comes to halitosis, saliva is a solid defensive weapon. When you have plenty, bad-breath-causing bacteria is washed away; when you’re lacking, your breath is more likely to be stale. Chewing gum stimulates saliva, so together with its minty taste, it’ll help combat frightful odours, quick smart. (Not a fan of chewing gum on your wedding day? Pack these minty gems in your clutch instead: Cedel Fresh Breath Spray and Hollywood Make Out Mints.)
#3. Keep your mouth moist.
Considering dry mouth is a common cause of dreadful breath, it’s wise to keep a bottle of water on hand so you can sip on it regularly. Doing so will not only moisten your mouth instantly, it’ll also stimulate saliva for ongoing mouth hydration. If you’re not a big water drinker, you could pop a cap-full of chlorophyll into your water bottle. It has a tasty spearmint flavour and acts as a deodoriser for the body.
#4. Pick your mouthwash wisely.
A mouthwash is just a mouthwash, right? Um, not always. Using a mouthwash that states it has antibacterial benefits will do more than protect your mouth and teeth – it’ll help reduce odours, too. Try: LISTERINE Whitening Mouth Wash and Colgate Plax Ice.
One more tip...
Want to know if your breath is a little stinky but don’t know how to check? Try this simple trick: lick the inside of your wrist, allow it to dry completely, and then give it a whiff. If the scent is bad, chances are your breath is not so delightful either.
Do you suffer from bad breath? What are your top tips for beating halitosis? If you’re married, how did you keep your breath fresh on your big day?

I suffer from dry mouth due to a medical condition, but fortunately don't have bad breath.
I find using a mouth hydrating spray (Hamilton make a really great one), keeps my mouth hydrated & fresh right though the day. The water tip is spot on too.

Even if the toothbrush doesn't have a scraper, stick your tongue out and scrape the bristles back and forth over it. And go buy a mint plant and chew on some real mint leaf!

Oh no! Another thing to worry about! I'll have to ask a friend to see if I have bad breath. Someone in my family had bad breath for a while and it later turned out she had a serious medical condition.
