How to beat the winter slump

Let’s face it, it’s easy to get a little down in the dumps during winter. The weather is dreary, it’s darker earlier and you probably spend more time drinking hot chocolate than enjoying the great outdoors. When it comes to beauty, you’d be forgiven for neglecting your regimen in winter (why shave your legs when it’s too cold to wear a skirt, am I right?), which can also lead to a beauty slump. But fear not ladies, we’re here to salvage your sass and reinstate your summer glow! Check out our four tips for beating the winter slump.

#1 Have a pamper sesh
Is there anything more effective at lifting your mood than a good old pamper session? We think not. Get your bath bombs out, mix some essential oils and give yourself a real at-home spa treatment. Not sure what you need in your kit? We’ve got you…
L’OCCITANE Lavender Foaming Bath, Skin Nutrient Firming and Lifting Face Mask, Oil Garden Bamboo Ultra Sonic Vaporiser and LUSH Goddess Bath Bomb.
#2 Try a little top-to-toe maintenance
When you’re a beauty-lover, you know that when you look good, you feel good. Taking care of your body and ensuring your beauty maintenance doesn’t fall behind in winter will keep you in high spirits and help prevent the dreaded slump! Nixing your hairy legs might not be necessary, but is there anything more satisfying than jumping into bed with freshly smooth skin? We don't think so! Regular hair treatments won’t go astray either – winter weather wreaks havoc on your locks! Here’s what you need:
Andrea Brazilian Hard Wax, Natio Spa Papaya & Cane Sugar Gentle Body Exfoliant, Tribe Skincare Fruit Tingle! Body Moisturiser and Kérastase Discipline Maskertine.
#3 Give your health a much-needed boost
Winter means the flu season and no matter how strong your immune defences are, it’s likely the sniffles will hit at some point during the cooler months. And even if you manage to escape sickness, fatigue just seems more prevelant this time of year. Luckily, there are ways you can shorten your sickness and strengthen your immunity and energy-levels. Meet your winter health care kit:
Mānuka Health Immune Response, Oil Garden Breathe Easier Roll On, Swisse UB Immune Defence Herbal Hot Drink and Naturopathica Horny Goat Weed For Her.
#4 Treat yourself to a beauty overhaul
One of our favourite ways to kick a winter slump in the butt is to splurge on new beauty products. One surefire way to lift any beauty-lover’s spirits is with a shiny new palette, fancy new skin care or a smooth, flawless foundation. Here are a few products that we are loving (some have just hit the shelves!).
Kosmea Eighth Natural Wonder ® Revitalising Facial Serum, Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Fluid Powder Foundation SPF20, NARS Paradise Found Bronzing Powder ($72, Mecca), FOREO UFO 2 ($395, Sephora) and Sephora Collection Gleaming Stones Slim Eyeshadow Palette ($32, Sephora).

Self care is very important. Just doing something you enjoy such as going for a walk or sitting and having a cup of tea works wonders

masks are such a struggle in winter! it's when I need them most, but the thought of having something cold on my face for 15-20 mins is so uncomfortable

You don't need all those supplements, just Vitamin D and lots of fresh fruit and veggies (preferably raw), this will keep you happy and protected against illness too.

I like to drink hot drinks, wear warm socks and being in the sunshine! I don't worry too much about shaving my legs because I live in long pants during the winter.

So many ways to pamper during the lockdown, and we haven't even started winter yet. Will start my pampering once I have resettled into my new home. By then I will deserve it and it will be winter too.

I still dont have time for a pamper sesh! but beauty products are a great way to beat any slump but not so good for the bank balance.
Also love "Friends" only wish that the kids were older as some of the episodes can provoke awkward questions from the kids.
