6 things you need to do in the bath

We all lead hectic lives that have us zooming around from place to place without taking a breath. We put up with headaches and backaches and clenched teeth because many of us think it’s normal – and some of us feel guilty if we don’t have a little stress everyday.

The fact is, taking ‘me time’ is a supremely valuable exercise, as it means that the tasks we do complete are tackled with a clearer mind and a better attitude – and our bodies definitely thank us in return. That’s not to say you can’t get busy with a few self-maintenance tasks while you’re relaxing – say, while you’re in the tub?
Soften your skin
Why not save time and tend to your body while you’re indulging in a little ‘me time’? It’s as simple as adding a skin-loving, totally nourishing bath bomb to your tub. Bomb Cosmetics Vintage Rosehip Bath Blaster is made with natural ingredients that are gentle on sensitive skin. It contains bicarbonate of soda to soften the bath water, pure essential oils to condition your skin and improve your mood and an encapsulating blend of rosehip fragrance and geranium and patchouli oil to help nourish your skin.

Scrub the day away
Whether you’re wanting to rid your skin of a fading fake tan, prepare for the application of a new faux glow or simply want to scrub away dead skin cells so that new, healthy ones can shine through – an exfoliating body scrub is the perfect bath time treat. The warm water makes your skin soft so dead skin cells are easier to remove. For a thorough scrub, we recommend Aum Purifying Body Scrub; a rich, creamy scrub that helps to stimulate cellular renewal, remove dead skin cells and provide even skin tone.
Tidy up your face
If you’ve noticed a bit of fuzz on your top lip or between your eyebrows, it may be the reason your make-up never looks as perfect as you might like. The good news is that it’s easier than you may think to remove it; all you need is facial wax strip that’s effective and easy to use. We recommend Waxaway Ready To Use Sensitive Wax Strips for Face, as these conveniently sized wax strips are designed to deal with delicate areas on your face without harming your skin.
Be sure to follow up with a cleansing oil (such as Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil) to effectively remove any wax residue.
Pamper your complexion
Your skin is never more open to receiving a pampering hit of nourishment than when you’re relaxing – and stationary. Why not lie back in the tub, start up your favourite soothing play list and place LonVitalité C4 – Coconut Milk Hydrating & Nourishing Mask on your face? This age-fighting cloth mask works to penetrate and strengthen the deeper layers of your skin while preventing dryness and skin flaking on the top layer of your skin. The coconut oil also helps to support the natural chemical balance of your skin and assist with banishing pigmentation and rosacea.

Give your locks some love
Want to close your eyes and relax while you’re soaking in the bath? No problem! Do yourself (and your hair) a favour and apply a hair treatment to your locks before you lean back and relax. The steam from the bath will help the hair treatment to penetrate deeper into the hair follicle – so you’d be bonkers not to take advantage of your surroundings, really. We recommend Goldwell Dualsenses Rich Repair 60s Treatment as it only needs 60 seconds to work effectively, features pashmina silk proteins to pamper and strengthen your hair and smells delightfully of vanilla, cedar, jasmine and sandalwood.

My goodness this article is ancient! We don't have a bath at our place, just a large shower.

Nice to put on a mask, or shave those legs. Also nice to enjoy a cup of herbal tea and soak the stresses away.

The problem I have with doing all these things in the bath is I cant rinse my hands in between steps. I certainly dun want to rinse in my bath water to contaminate it!

A lot of these are nice to do in a bath, but even if you do them in shower (of course not the bath bomb), they are still nice.

You don't need a bath to do some of these things. I bought my sister a wonderful hair mask to put in her hair while putting her kids to bed. Then she washes it out when they're down. She loves it!
