What did women’s underwear look like in 1915?

Considering how much you guys loved BuzzFeed’s 60 years of bridal hairstyles in two minutes, we couldn’t resist sharing this latest vid: 100 years of lingerie in three minutes.
Created by mode.com, the video kicks off with what looks like a very generous jumpsuit (but is actually underwear) from 1915.
Fast forward to 1965 and a raunchier style has taken centre stage, featuring high-waisted underwear in an animal print paired with a black bra.
2015’s offering doesn’t exactly reflect my own underwear drawer – but who’s to say the looks aren’t favourites with you guys!
Whether you’re a high-waisted lover, a full-cupped beauty or a crop top queen, lingerie is kind of a big deal – so we love anything that gives it the sort of recognition it deserves.
In my experience, underwear also has the power to make or break our confidence (not to mention comfort levels) – which could explain why we’re continuously mixing it up!
Watch the video below:
Which lingerie look was your favourite? What’s your go-to bra and/or underwear style?

Amazing how fashion always goes through cycles. Same with lingerie.

Brilliant video - Loved the 20's! Argh the 80's I remember the extreme high cut. eww.

My to go bra style is: NO bra. Hate those things. And undies: ones that I feel as I do not wear them. Usually light cotton seamless g-string if needed. At home no undies

Love mid 90s! High waisted huge undies are so ugly lol

I like the ones that don't cut into the skin and give those awful lines!

Cute video, but as a fashion history nerd, it's a bit painful.
- That lady would have not been seen dead without her "stays" and stockings. Stays were like an Edwardian long-line corset. Flattened the tum and bum and slimmed the waist, though not as severely and dramatically as earlier corsets would have.
20's. What on earth is that on her head?
30's. That is a modern styled Bra. 30's bras did not have underwires. Bras were not being sized by cup yet, and were a lot softer. More like a bralette. And where is this good lady's girdle? How will her silk stockings stay up? Her bias cut dress would look dreadful over those tap pants...
40's. I have this Rago corselette. Bit more late 50's than 40's. Though at least she has stockings on (even if the welt and the seam should have been nude.). The dressing gown is SUPERB though.
50's. You had the opportunity to show us a Sweater Girl bullet bra (Try What Katie Did, based in the UK, for modern but accurate reproductions). This frilly little baby doll is more 60's. This gal needs a girdle, a cone-stitched bullet bra and stockings, stat!
60's. I LOVE THOSE KNICKERS.
70's. What is this nightie thing? I know the 70's was full of polyester, but come on.
80's. Gross. But accurate I guess. Isn't this a swim suit though?
90's. WONDERBRA?? An iconic piece of lingerie history and you go for the cheap made in china hooker corset? Suppose the 90's was a bit cheap and tarty.
00's. Awwww, I totally had a little nightie like that.
- Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
Cute video guys, but it's pretty clear they didn't do their research.

I like Bonds boyleg cotton undies with a cute pattern on them as wedgies are so uncomfortable.

What ever it is I need good bum coverage to avoid wedgies, so no g's and no brazillian undeez for me. Not to mention the G can easily cause infections, so another great reason to pass on those.

Undies and bras have definitely come a long way over time, take the g string for example who would have thought a string would be worn as undies.

I think I'll stick to my cotton Bonds.

I did not like any of these! I guess I love the most naked style myself...and nothing tight

I like pretty underwear but I also really like some good 'ol Bonds cotton undies. Some times you just need comfort.

Interesting to see how the styles have changes over the years. I go for comfort that looks good.

What's with the 1915 all-in-one? You'd have to take your dress off & leave it hanging up on the dunny door! You'd pee yourself in that time!
I like to wear stockings on a date. My knickers comprise everything from the lacy, racy date knickers made out of cobwebs to the more functional ones for other times.

Thankfully today there are more choices, and I think people just wear what suits them.
